Teaching Professor and Director of Undergraduate Programs for the Department of Computer Science at NC State. Dr. Heckman is a 2018 NC State Alumni Association Distinguished Undergraduate Professor and a member of the NC State Academy of Outstanding Teachers. Her research is on computing and software engineering education. PI Heckman has mentored educators in computing education research through the DEERS workshop as part of NSF grant #1525173. PI Heckman’s role will be leading grant activities with a focus on RQ2 and supervising graduate student work.
